HEIDENHAIN at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES

As a single source manufacturer of feedback systems for automation technology, HEIDENHAIN is positioning itself in Hall 7 again at its usual location.

An absolute highlight in its literal sense is the presentation of the new LIC 4000 exposed linear encoder with absolute position-value acquisition. The scale tape, with the same dimensions as the field-proven LIDA encoder, is particularly attractive in feedback systems for direct drives. Immediately upon switch-on, the higher-level electronics know the actual position and the commutation offset, and the motor can immediately be provided with power and held in the control loop. The higher quality of the measuring signals improves velocity control and positioning in highly dynamic applications. With a resolution as fine as 1 nm and large measuring lengths up to 27 meters (89 ft), the LIC 4000 effectively frees the closed-loop control, position measurement and position commands from any limits on length, thereby opening the way to new applications in metrology, in the semiconductor field and in established industries such as textile processing.

The subject of functional safety represents the second main focus of the HEIDENHAIN booth. The LC absolute linear encoders and RCN absolute angle encoders, as well as rotary encoders in various sizes, constitute a comprehensive product range for safety-related applications. A safety-related position measuring system can be used as a single-encoder system in conjunction with a safe control in applications with control category SIL-2 (in accordance with DIN EN IEC 61 508) or performance level “d” (in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13 849).

The product family of sealed rotary encoders rounds off the product program. In addition to a wide range of mechanical connections with a large number of electrical interfaces, HEIDENHAIN even offers encoders tested for hazardous locations.
